Shrinking Core Model for the Discharge of a Metal Hydride Electrode
نویسندگان
چکیده
A shrinking core model is presented for the galvanostatic discharge of a metal hydride particle. A quantitative criterion for when the shrinking core can be completely neglected or approximated by a pseudosteady-state solution is presented. The effect of shrinking of the core on the discharge behavior of a metal hydride particle is also studied. © 2000 The Electrochemical Society. S0013-4651(00)01-086-7. All rights reserved.

Kinetic Behavior of Metal Hydride Electrode by Means of AC Impedance
A mathematical model f or the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of a metal-hydride electrode was developed. The model was used to study the effect of various parameters on predicted kinetic behavior. The simulations obtained using the model show that the first arc appearing in the higher frequency range is due to a charge-transfer reaction, the second arc in the middle frequency range repr...
متن کاملConversion and Residence Time Calculation for Gas-solid Solid Reactions of the Cylindrical-shaped Particles with Con-stant Size Using the Shrinking Core Model
In this paper, a mathematical model is developed to calculate the conversion and the residence time reaction for plug flow and mixed flow in the reactors filled with cylin-drical particles using the shrinking core model. In this modeling, the size of the particles is un-chamged during the reaction. Also, the reaction rate is controlled by the gas layer resistance, the ash layer resistance, and ...

Vanadium is distributed widely and scarcely (150 ppm) on the earth. Its major applications are in steelmaking, dye-production and catalyst-fabrication industries. With the ever-increasing demand for this metal, secondary resource-exploitation of such waste materials as spent catalysts is recommended. Many reactions are involved in vanadium-extraction from these resources. Since roasting in comp...
متن کاملDetermination of reaction resistances for metal-hydride electrodes during anodic polarization
Ž . The anodic polarization process in metal-hydride electrodes occurs via the following consecutive steps: i diffusion of absorbed Ž . hydrogen from the bulk to the surface of the electrode, ii hydrogen transfer from absorbed state to adsorbed state at the electrode Ž . surface, and iii electrochemical oxidation of the adsorbed hydrogen on the electrode surface. A theoretical treatment is pres...
متن کاملEffects of Salt Additives to the KOH Electrolyte Used in Ni/MH Batteries
KOH-based electrolytes with different salt additives were investigated to reduce their corrosive nature toward Mg/Ni metal hydride alloys used as negative electrodes in nickel metal hydride (Ni/MH) batteries. Alkaline metal halide salts and oxyacid salts were studied as additives to the traditional KOH electrolyte with concentrations varying from 0.005 M to 1.77 M. Effects of the cations and an...
